Applying to JAMP

Here we lay out the steps to apply to the JAMP program.

Five Steps to Apply

Please follow our five-step process closely.

  1. Go to the JAMP website: www.texasjamp.org.  Read through the “Student” section to make sure you are eligible to apply and to learn more about the program.
  2. Please fill out the required UT Austin (available after May 1st each year). You must upload your Notice of Intent (NOI) and Student Aid Reports (SARs) directly into the Pre-Application Survey (see below). Your Notice of Intent (NOI) allows us to collect your supporting documentation for your application and verify your eligibility for JAMP (see list below).
  3. After we verify your primary eligibility, we will notify you via email (JAMP@austin.utexas.edu) to let you know when you can start your application. Please be sure to check out our UT Austin JAMP Specific Application DEADLINES
  4. Starting your application: Go to the JAMP website (www.texasjamp.org) and click on Applicant Login to create your user name and password and begin the application.
  5. Please submit applications by 5 p.m. on October 1st.

Application Deadlines

Please follow our UT Austin-specific dates below.

  • We ask that all UT Students currently in the process of applying to JAMP for the cycle submit their application no later than 5pm on October 1st. This allows us time to upload your supporting documents to the JAMP portal.
  • JFD Interviews - you DO NOT need to reach out to Dr. Laude (JAMP Faculty Director) regarding your need for a letter. Our office manages this process. Once Dr. Laude provides us with his availability, our JAMP Ambassadors will then reach out to you to schedule a time to meet with him.

Please note:

  • We will start accepting Notice of Intents (NOI) and SARs for each application cycle for UT Austin JAMP applicants AFTER May 1st.
  • Early Admissions candidates only need to turn in their Freshman year Student Financial Aid Report (SAR).

More Information about Applying

Transfer Student Information

If you are transferring to UT Austin to complete your degree, please make sure you get one of your letters from a faculty member at your transfer institution using our JAMP Transfer Applicant Letter of Evaluation Form.

If you have more questions you can schedule an online appointment with our JAMP Program Coordinator.

Please note you must turn in your application survey before you can meet with the JAMP Program Coordinator.

Notice of Intent to Apply

Before you start your JAMP application, you MUST fill out a required UT Austin JAMP Applicant Pre-Applicant Survey!

(Available after May 1st each year).

  • The survey will allow you to upload your Notice of Intent to Apply and Student Aid Reports (SAR's) to us. We will no longer accept paper copies of these documents.

Letters of Evaluation

As a part of the application, you will need to submit two letters of evaluation:

One letter is to be provided by someone who knows you well. It can be a faculty member, a high school teacher, a supervisor in a job, or a healthcare provider.

The second letter is written by the UT JAMP Faculty Director at UT Austin. This is called your JFD letter.

Your evaluators must use the form provided by JAMP. They may also write an actual letter to attach with the form.

Signature requirements: Letter writers can hand write their signature or they must use a digital signature software such as DocuSign or Adobe Sign. Please note: JAMP will not accept signatures that were typed in a fancy font and do not have a digital stamp!

Be sure to fill in the top section of the form before you give it to your evaluator. You must select either: 1.) WAIVE your right to access the letter or 2.) RETAIN your right to access the letter. We strongly encourage you to WAIVE the right to access the letter as this underscores the honesty of the evaluation.

Evaluators, please scan and submit the completed and signed form electronically from your official email address, to jamp@austin.utexas.edu.

Please note: if your evaluator is attaching an additional written letter of evaluation to the letter evaluation form, it must be signed and on letterhead.

JAMP JFD Letter Interview

The Health Professions Office will collect your supporting documents and monitor the status of your online application. Later in the process (usually late September), you will be contacted to schedule an appointment with the JAMP Faculty Director (JFD).

This appointment/interview is an opportunity for the JAMP Faculty Director to casually talk with you about your candidacy and personalize the letter of support for your application.

Note: You will not meet with the JAMP Faculty Director until the month of September, because the JFD letter is the last step in the process. It is a key part of your application! Please do not reach out directly to Dr. Laude - he is very busy. We will be in touch with you when it is time to sign up for an appointment with him.

You are responsible for providing financial aid documents for your first and second undergraduate years.

The CNS Health Professions Office will collect the following on your behalf from your UT admissions application:
