Currently Enrolled Students
Students who are currently enrolled at UT Austin have access to the following services:
- HP Peer Mentor Appointments: Students may schedule an appointment with a Health Professions Peer Mentor. These 3rd and 4th year pre-health students are specifically trained by our coaches to provide support students from all the pre-health pathways that we currently serve. HP Peer Mentors can help with topics such as course planning, study strategies for difficult classes, and how to get involved. These appointments are 15 minutes and available virtually beginning the 3rd week of the semester.
- Coaching Appointments: Students may schedule an appointment with a Health Professions Coach. These appointments are 30 minutes and available in-person and virtually. There are three appointment types for coaches:
- General Coaching: Discuss a general topic, such as how to find shadowing opportunities, or discuss a general inquiry with a coach, such as registration concerns, Q-drop discussions, claiming AP/IB credit, reporting academic integrity or legal concerns on your application, and more.
- Progress Check: Review your academic metrics and current extracurricular activities with a coach to identify strengths, areas of improvement, and future goals in your application so far.
- Personal Statement Brainstorming: Reflect on your extracurricular experience with a coach to brainstorm potential topics for your personal statement. Please note: The Health Professions Office does not review drafted personal statements. For editorial feedback and assistance, please visit the University Writing Center.
- Interview Preparation: Discuss the characteristics of the most common interview types for health profession schools, including the traditional style and MMI format, and review strategies to improve your interview skills. Please note: This is not a mock interview. Check with the Career Services office for your college to see if they provide mock interview services.
- Virtual Office Hours (Formerly Virtual Drop-Ins): Office hours are virtual drop-in opportunities to have a short discussion with a coach. These are always virtual and a maximum of 15 minutes per visit. Office hours are available at different times throughout the week based on in residence credit-level.
- Coach-Led Presentations: Current students may attend our in-person and virtual workshops throughout the semester. These presentations are led by coaching in a particular application or pre-health related topic, such as application strategies, creating relationships with letter writers, building a competitive application, and more.
- Annual Health Professions Fair: Current students may attend our Annual Health Professions Fair in the spring semester. For more information on this year's fair, please visit the HP Fair information page.
